From Laura Q. Merrick – A Fine Event on Saturday!
Abana Banji Run - A Fundraising Event for the Ames High School Uganda Project
9 AM, Saturday October 18th, 2008 - 5K route at Ada Hayden Park
Entrance Fee: $20 Includes race t-shirt, time results, and prizes to age division winners for men and women (8th grade and under, high school, open).
Post race events will include food and drinks as well as Awards from the Ames High School Uganda Project
“Abana banji” is Lugandan for “Many Children”. Each summer since 2004, Ames High students have traveled to Uganda to build schools for the Ugandan children. Many of these children are orphans, whose parents have died from the HIV-AIDS epidemic in Africa. All proceeds from the Abana Banji Run will go toward projects helping the children of Uganda. This event is sponsored by AHS Student Council and SHEPH.
