Many of you are running the Rosy Cheeks 5k.  If you want to run extra miles afterwards, feel free - or just gorge yourself on pancakes.
 
For those of you not running it, I will host the Frosty Face almost 6 miler in Ames.  It will be just like the Rosy cheeks except that it won't be a race, there will be no pancakes, and it will be earlier.  So I guess it's nothing like the Rosy cheeks run.
 
We will start at the community center at 7 for those wanting a long run (they can do the loop twice.)
8:00 start for the six milers.  As you will see you can even do a short 3 miler by just doing the first half.
 
If anyone wants to do 16 as stated in the calendar, you can add as you like or even do one of the loops again to add 3-4  miles.
 
I will be starting at 8:00 with the 6 milers but will be present around 7:35ish in the parking ot with my red tracker to provide drinks for those 12 milers wrapping up the first half.

"On Sunday, January 20th, my intrepid friends and I stunned the hockey world and won the 3rd Annual US Pond Hockey Championships, Rink Rat Division (2nd tier).  We played five games in one day and won all five, including a 6-5 thriller for the title.   Attached, please find a picture of my team with the coveted Silver Scoop.  We get our names on it and everything.  It wasn't the open division, but it was still pretty cool to win.  Last year we got shellacked in the semis, so it was great to come back and finish #1.  Next year we will have to play in the open division again, in which even teams featuring former NHLers failed to advance out of pool play."

I had to wrestle a lion, but I passed.  The meetup will be at Dublin Bay at 8pm for those interested.  We'll try to take over the bar area.  Dinner if you want it (I will be eating), drinks if you need it (I do).  We may very well progress onwards from there.  Mothers hide your children -- tis party time.

I would like to suggest a route to the Memorial Union, a brief warm up inside, a drink of water, urinate (if necessary) and a return to the Vardaman Center.  That’s damn near four miles, close enough for USDA work. Discuss.

The Vardo Route of Fun will commence at Hy-Vee WEST and go in a big, asphalt and concrete loop all the way back to Hy-Vee West.  7.19 miles, 14'ers can do 2 loops.  I'll have drinks and schtick in my car, or people can choose to use the Hy-Vee deli after the run.  Professor Thomas D. Schultz

Margrett:  Madison Marathon May Madness
 
1)  Tom Schultz will be subbing for me as route master this Saturday (1/19).  All problems and accidents will therefore fall directly on his shoulders.
 
2)  Here's the info on the Madison Marathon:
 
May 25th (Sunday run) - good course - around the lakes and campus in Madison.  I have started my early training and kick into the heavy prep on Feb. 15th.  The "world's largest Brat cookout" is after the event at the place where runners park and bus to the start and finish line.  If anyone wants to do something different and this sounds good, let me know.  I'm doing it regardless.   Jeff Margrett

(Twelve-miler's run the Penguin twice)  Water and Eskimo Pies (a Penguin's favorite!) will be available in the HyVee parking lot in the back of Art's orange Honda.
