Two more Hy-Vee results from the Disciples of Vardo:

Gentle Doctor William Jenks:  2:31:19
and his son, Christopher "Jr. Gong" Jenks:  2:25:59

Take-home message: tread lightly around chemists and their offspring.  They know magic and are good at triathlons.  It's a one-two combo that will leave you reeling.

The 4K and 4 mile routes will be ran at the same time, so there will not be an opportunity to race both of them.  Sorry.  The races start at 8 am.

Have rumors of me hanging on to my sanity like a rock climber losing her grip reached George?  No wait, George's suggestion of a route master break is because of the date…Saturday is the classic 4 on the 4th.  Since my last stint as route master netted an entire one runner (Thank you Randy), I'd like a great turnout.  I propose everyone do the 4 on the 4th.  The "6" milers can do both the 4k and 4 mile routes for approximately 6.5.  Alternatively, they can do 2 figure 8s at Ada Hayden for about 6.  The ten milers could do the 4 mile route followed by 2 figure 8s for approximately 10.  I will bring extra water. Is this plan acceptable with the Vardos?  Linda

RE: VardoGram

Calling all strong Vardo’s…I am once again in need of some hired muscles.  I have a very generous friend of mine who is giving me some new to me living room furniture and I need some help and possibly an extra truck to acquire said furniture tomorrow evening and transport it to my garage for the time being.  Any extra Vardo’s willing to help out tomorrow evening after the “Vardo Open Water Swimming is the Pits in the Pits” seminar, would be welcome and greatly appreciated.  I will probably also need extra hands then as well next Monday or Tuesday to actually move the furniture into the house after the new floors are laid.

Thanks in advance for your time and consideration.  Oh yeah, BTW, I have a beer full of fridge…er I mean a fridge full of beer that I would be willing to share with any Vardo willing to help out.  J

Thanks again!

Sister Peterson

“Please visit www.iagovcup.com <http://www.iagovcup.com/>  for information on this year's Governor's Cup to be held September 12, 2009, in the Capitol area of downtown Des Moines.  The race benefits the YSS branch in Des Moines called Iowa Homeless Youth Centers.  The primary focus of Iowa Homeless Youth Centers is to reach homeless youth and provide transitional living for youth. This year, it appears there will even be a new group of moms with strollers participating!”

“The race is on the same day as the Iowa / Iowa State football game; however, if you are a diehard fan, you can still make the game after the race. Better yet, there will be a Cyclone / Hawkeye tailgating venue on the bridge downtown that morning, so you can always finish the race, attend the tailgating on the bridge, and then watch the game at the sports bars downtown.  For those not into the ISU / Iowa game, you can follow up the Governor's Cup Race with a visit to the Farmer's Market downtown - always a fun event.  I hope many Vardo’s participate.”    Margaret

 George,

I filtered, sorted and manipulated the 2009 Dam to Dam race results showing only  Ames Iowa finishers. I thought you and the fellow VARDO's may find it interesting. Pass it on.
